The 'commie cadet' or the 'West Point Commie' are nicknames given to Spenser Rapone, who graduated from the West Point Acadamy in September of 2017. Rapone was pictured wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt underneath his military uniform and have even written 'communism will win" on the inside of his hat. 

An investigation was launched after the original images went viral leading Rapone's own father to denounce his son's political views after a thorough investigation looked into his online and private life. 

Rapone had this to say about his political views, “I consider myself a revolutionary socialist. I would encourage all soldiers who have a conscience to lay down their arms and join me and so many others who are willing to stop serving the agents of imperialism and join us in a revolutionary movement.”

On June 19th, Rapone submitted his resignation to Fort Drum's 10th Mountain Division after he was reprimanded for "conduct unbecoming of an officer" after the Army conducted an investigation concluding that Rapone, "went online to advocate for a socialist revolution and disparage high-ranking officers and US officials."
